Sofia Maidans'ka
Two novels are contained in this volume by one of Ukraine's most important writers: Zemlatrus ("Earthquake") and Dity Nioby ("The Children of Niobe"). Among other things Children graphically describes tragedies and atrocities in Bukovyna during the Second World War.

Sofia Maidans'ka is one of the foremost writers in Ukraine today with a wide variety of published works: novels, plays and poetry. She was awarded the first Oleh Honchar Prize in Literature (1997) for Dity Nioby. She lives in Kyїv.
