The pages of this album are a venue for Ukrainian icons from various times. As part of private collections in different Ukrainian cities – Lviv, Lutsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Cherkasy and Poltava, these artworks of great cultural value have so far been inaccessible to a broader circle of enthusiasts. Finely complementing one another, these masterpieces give a good enough idea of the milestones of old Ukrainian icon painting over 500 years – from the 13th to the junction of the 18th and 19th centuries (Oleh Sydor, Introduction). |
