Daleki obrii (“Distant Horizons”) is the third travel novel by Ukrainian traveler, writer, and photographer Sophie Yablonska, which describes her trip around the world. Yablonska wrote it during her travels in 1934–1935 and edited it for a long time, so it was first published only in 1939 in Lviv. This novel resembles a travel diary, to which the author turned in order to capture the most interesting moments of the journey: to record special places, describe disappearing nationalities, confide in the most intimate experiences, such as meetings with a Vietnamese prince, and thoughts on the colonization processes that she observed while traveling through the Dutch and French colonies.
